How do I know which course my apprentice should be on?

The Institute for Apprenticeships website has a searchable database of all of the new apprenticeship standards available (plus the ones still in development). You can search by sector and see which one would be right for the role you have in mind. 

You can also see a list of all of the training providers who offer each standard (take a look at the boxes at the lower right corner).

How can I support my apprentice as a manager or mentor?

Apprentice Makers  offers workshops and training courses to help businesses, training organisations, champions and business support professionals gain the information and skills they need to support an apprentice.

Did you know that you can filter by location? Just pop in your postcode and the distance you're able to travel to find all the apprenticeships in your area.

The National Careers Service offers advice and support. You can speak to adviser either over the phone or by webchat. 

Adviza also provides advice and support and offers face-to-face sessions.

Where can I go to find apprenticeships for my child?

Every available apprenticeship can be found on the National Apprenticeship Service website. You can refine your search by location, just enter your postcode and the distance that your child will be able to travel to find all the apprenticeship vacancies near you. If you need more help you can watch this video for an easy step-by-step guide on searching the site. 

Make sure you also get your child to register as this is how they will apply for any apprenticeship in the future. Registering will also allow them to sign up for alerts if they are looking for something in particular. 

Where can my child go for careers advice?

The National Careers Service offers advice and support over the phone or by webchat, and Adviza offers face-to-face careers advice sessions.



How can we talk to our students about apprenticeships?

Amazing Apprenticeships have some Great free resources for schools, find them all here!

Amazing Apprenticeships also run the Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools (ASK) project. ASK is designed to give schools, colleges and other educational establishments across England free support to develop and transform how their students think about apprenticeships. They provide information and resources for teachers but can also run apprenticeship information events at your school. The project is delivered in London and the South by Education & Employers.
